Bio
Reggie Stephens is a former NFL defensive back who played cornerback and special teams for the New York Giants (1999–2003), helping the team reach Super Bowl XXXV. He continued his professional career with the Nashville Kats of the Arena Football League (2005–2006). At Rutgers University, Stephens earned First Team All-Big East honors, the Homer Hazel MVP Award, and competed in the prestigious East-West Shrine Game before graduating. He later earned a Master’s degree in Sports Management from Utah State University.
A Santa Cruz native, Stephens was a three-sport all-county athlete at Santa Cruz High School and is a proud inductee into the Santa Cruz High School Hall of Fame. He is also honored in the Scotts Valley Hall of Fame as a coach. His coaching background includes leading student-athletes at Scotts Valley High School and serving as the Wide Receivers Coach at Cabrillo College, where he developed skill, discipline, and leadership in collegiate players.
Beyond the field, Stephens is the founder of the Reggie Stephens Foundation (RSF), a nonprofit that since 2018 has served Santa Cruz County youth through sports, arts, education, and culture. RSF provides free training, scholarships, mentorship, and cultural opportunities such as Sunday Sessions, HBCU college tours, and the Girls Flag Football All-Star Game.
At Soquel, Coach Stephens combines his NFL experience, academic expertise, and coaching background to mentor student-athletes, instilling the values of hard work, discipline, and his guiding motto: “Seek. Believe. Achieve.”
